FLÜELAPASS - OFENPASS
1999 - 2021
High snow walls on both sides of the roadway [left, below]. Since 2002, the pass is closed in winter and traffic is routed through the new Vereina rail tunnel. Southern ramp of the Flüelapass Road, just north of the village of Susch [right, below].
On the way from Flüelapass to the Rothornlücke. The mountain in the back is the Schwarzhorn. This mountain was, until the closure of the pass in winter, one of the most popular backcountry skiing tours of Switzerland -- It is also a very nice hike in summer.
A well deserved rest after three hours of ascent!
Fluelapass to Ofenpass
On a very rainy day in August we drove from Switzerland to Italy [Südtirol/Alto Adige]
Santa Margarita - CH [below]
Taufers/Tubre - Italy [below]
and onward to Glurns and Schlanders and Schenna...
