On our way back to Germany from Hochgurgl we took the Fernpass and we crossed it under really tough conditions. Thanks to our 4-wheel drive Beamer we managed easily . An hour after we were through the passroad was closed.
The trucks had to put on chains and the crews tried hard to keep the roads open but even Austrian know-how sometimes does not work. This is winter in the Alps!
This summer, we stayed in Berwang and one hike was to Locherboden Church on the southern foothills of the pass.
