PAGE - ARIZONA
August 2026
Another town hosting one of the wonders of the US landscape.
We took off for a long weekend and flew to Page. We flew over Yosemite's Half Dome, we refueled in Tonopah, we avoided storm clouds and after 3.5 hours of flying we landed in Page, Arizona.
Below: Views of Lake Powell and the Colorado river from the plane
Entering Page, the first lunch at a lovely Mexican Restaurant and dinner at our hotel [Marriott]
Horseshoe Bend
This is the undisputed star of the area where the Colorado river makes a dramatic curve.
The next day we rented a boat and spent several hours on Lake Powell. Unfortunately, the lake has dropped more than 150 feet in recent years and a lot of areas have become arid soil. I guess one can no longer deny climate change...
Below are some sights including the rental boats, the houseboats, the proof of drop [change in color of the walls surrounding the lake in many areas] and Monitor after Merimeck was sunk - tongue in cheek [below, top right]
A hike at Toadstools Trail
Toadstool Hoodoos are sandstone formations formed by erosion through millions of years.
We crossed into Utah to hike and then back to Arizona
