Lake Bled

The spectacular lake in the Julian Alps of the Upper Carniolan region of northwestern Slovenia is worth a special trip. With the little island in the middle of the lake with a charming church it is heaven for travel photography.

We were rowed over to the island by a very strong young man who did it all, like a gondolier but with two oars.

The pilgrimage church on the island is dedicated to the Assumption of Mary
