Santuario della Madonna della Corona

[Sanctuary of the Madonna della Corona]

2024-08

Built by the Knights of Malta in the 17th century, it is a sanctuary nestled on rocks.

Until 1922 the only path to the sanctuary was a climb of 1614 steps from the village of Brentino.  In 1922 a paved  road was built down from the town of Spiazzi and a tunnel was dug to reach the sanctuary.

This foot path down has been highlighted with bronze statues of the 14 stations of the Cross. [Via Crucis]. We walked down and took pictures to memorialize this amazing experience.

Station I - Jesus Is Condemned To Death

Station II - Jesus Takes Up His Cross                             Section III - Jesus Falls First Time

Our next stop was Monte Baldo for a little hike and then back to the hotel for some basking in the sun and dinner.
